Light fixtures have been installed on highways in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate the winter solstice.
About 40 million people in the region use light switches for illumination, which are made from carbon fibre and aluminium.
The government plans to install about 3 million lights on the roads in the next five years, said the government’s official media.
