In November, New York City’s mayor said she wanted to help people enjoy a day of light shows, with the hope that people would come to the city for the event.
“I want people to see something special,” she said.
The Mayor’s Office of Communications told me that the Mayor’s Light Show is still being planned, but that the lights will be shown around the city at the same time as the fireworks show.
“The City of New York is currently planning to announce the date, location, and venue for the Mayor and Mayor Light Show,” a spokesperson told me.
“All announcements will be made on the City’s website and social media platforms.”
The spokesperson also told me they will be sharing more information on the Mayor Light Shows on their official website.
“Our mission is to inspire and inspire people to be creative and celebrate the holiday season in New York,” the spokesperson told us.
“We want to continue to make the holiday even more memorable with fun and festive events that make New York a more beautiful and special place to live.”

The city has not said when the Mayor Lights Show will take place.
The Light Show will begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5, with a fireworks show starting at 6:30 p.f.m, and the light show ending at 9 p.c.m., at which point the fireworks will begin again.
“There are no plans at this time for fireworks,” the City of NYC spokesperson told Gothamist.
