A death in a car light “is a very rare event”, said Dr James Goulburn, a leading UK-based consultant on lighting issues.
“It’s very unlikely that the lights are causing the problem, but it does occur,” he said.
“If there is a death in the car light and it has not been removed by the manufacturer, then there is likely to be an issue with the light bulb and possibly a faulty bulb.”
A company spokeswoman said there was “no evidence” that the company had any problems with the bulbs.
The spokeswoman said the company “does not currently have a record of an incident” of a car’s light not working.
“In our experience, if a customer is unhappy with the quality of their car light, they can ask us to replace the bulb,” the spokeswoman said.
